AWKA, ANAMBRA STATE – The hallowed halls of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, commonly known as 'UNIZIK', recently played host to a pivotal regional dialogue on Artificial Intelligence policy, drawing technocrats, policymakers, and academics from across West Africa. The two-day summit, titled 'Udo na Ọganihu: Crafting a West African AI Framework for Sustainable Development', underscored Nigeria's growing commitment to not just adopting, but also responsibly governing emerging technologies.

The event, held in collaboration with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), focused on the intricate balance between technological advancement and safeguarding societal values. Discussions ranged from data privacy and algorithmic bias to the economic implications of AI on local industries and employment.
